The Flock

"The greatest good, for the greatest number, for the longest period" is instrinsically dependent on the realization of our individual potentials. We will naturally ascend to our collective ultimate best as we each work to achieve our personal best, even without regard to how that may differ from one to another.

There are a million metaphors for this and people still don't get it, but maybe they're beginning to. We need to keep reinforcing that very message. One cannot pour from an empty vessel. We cannot love, help and understand others if we have not taken the time and effort in doing these things for ourselves. We cannot expect to receive love, help or understanding, if we are not doing these things for others. It's the Flock, the Pool, the collective whole made up of individuals. It's the circuit. We're all in it, unless we have our own switch dimmed or off.

It's so very simple but seemingly difficult to grasp in a world where egos are tangled up in immediate, tangible, return on investment. They are not seeing the potential gains. They're concentrating on limiting losses. <--- look at that phrase. LIMITING is exactly the point. If we concentrate on limits then we are fenced within them.

Sheep may be kept in an orderly flock by use of the staff to punish and dogs to police HOWEVER they will remain sheep forever. They will not grow nor learn anything more than how to avoid the staff and fear the dogs. This is not a proper way for a soul to live and it limits the whole community of souls. The flock is defined by the sheep within it. What they are and what they become, individually, determines the nature of the flock, collectively.
