"The trappings do not matter."
If I could brainwash the world, that would certainly be a primary message, if not THE message. Yes, of course, some people need the trappings for guidance or they're helpful for focus, but getting trapped within them is always a risk. Then setting these same traps for others is a further departure from their usefulness. At that point, the guiding trappings have been converted into harm rather than help. Implied is an attempt to impose one's own trappings onto another. In my own sphere of influence, I see the traps and trappings very clearly. I try to show a way out of them, not by springing people directly nor trying to drag them away, but by example. I demonstrate or express alternative ways of perceiving concepts. We don't have to drag people over to our set of trappings and make them adhere to what we personally have accepted. Being the same is NOT a pre-requisite for getting along. This is a crucial point. We have misunderstood this for centuries, maybe even millenia. We need to quit it and see the truth. We are different. It's wonderful. Let's spring the traps so no one else gets hurt... and move on. 05.31.2001 |
