When bad things happen to good people...and visa versa...
This has been a sticking point for many people for many centuries. I find that karma and reincarnation explain that extremely well. Seemingly bad things do happen to seemingly good people and visa versa. However, I also feel that we err in our judgements of what is bad and what is good. We are, in my opinion, judging from what we can see through a knothole in the fence and not from the big picture. Many people of the judeo-christian set will look for some personal sin or error to explain a bad experience or outcome. Others may just feel like victims of a short straw selection. Neither of those self-incriminating methods appeal to me. Even if I don't see any personal fault in this lifetime, I am willing to accept the idea that I may have missed something in my own soul's education and it's time to learn it. I can live with that. I can work with it. I still have my self-worth intact to proceed in a healthy way. If something bad happens to me, I don't beat myself up over it. I look for possible changes to myself that might prevent that in future. I look for growth opportunity within that circumstance. Otherwise, I accept it and move on. I also do extra things in an attempt to rack up more cookies in my karmic cookie jar. I like to share them when possible. If you believe in karma, then you know that I am working in this life to make this life and subsequent lives better for myself. If you don't believe in karma or reincarnation, I am still doing no harm and in fact am trying to spread around some good, while making myself comfy. So, it works. 06.07.2001 |
