The only explanation I can come up with for wanting to showcase the world's wounds... is fear. It almost has to be the level of comfort that some people have with the "devil you know versus the devil you don't"? They are cozy in the way things have been, despite their protests. Otherwise, they'd want to change it. They must fear change.

If you take what the ranters are saying at face value, then it sounds like, "This is terrible! How can we live with this? How can we continue this way?!" And that would be an appropriate response to the worlds ills. I think we'd all agree.

However, just because we share this view does not mean we all go around collecting treasures of travesty and plastering them upon the walls. We don't all want to build monuments to them and stick clips of them on the refrigerator to show them off like kindergarten art. These acts ARE heinous and they ARE against the world we'd like to build. Why worship them? Why honor them by proliferating the news of them?

If terrorists got NO press whatsoever, there would be no terrorism. We know that they do it to make a statement, to be heard. If no one listened, they would quit it. Their whole point in doing it would be moot.

Would kids think to shoot other kids if they weren't buried in a few over-publicized stories of kids shooting kids?

Are rapists, muggers and petty thieves all smart enough to figure out the tricky ways to get clientele? Or do they get a leg up from news blitzes?

The perpetrators of violent crime and acts against humanity absolutely live for the word to spread about what they've been up to. That is apparently the world they want to see and the media is helping them get it. So... are... we... if we carry their vicious antics into our daily lives and share them with others.

We have to mount a campaign just as they have. We have to do what we want to see in the world and we have to get the word out. Let people talk across fences about the innumerable helpful things going on, rather than the incidents of death and destruction they heard on the news today.

If you want positive action, there it is. I still believe in the power of good thoughts, positive thinking, prayer and meditation, but if you want to add 'power' and 'control' to it in the physical world then turn all that refuse into something productive, positive, desired within our lives.

Share the Light and let the Darkness do its own advertising. Eventually, none of us will want to hear it. Many of us are that way now. We will come to disbelieve and when that happens, it will vanish.
