I think the desire to be accepted is perhaps a bastardized version
of what may be the innate desire of every spirit to connect. To
be 'accepted' implies that a test or judgement has taken place and
we passed. To 'connect' is simply to connect. We could do this on
similarities and/or polar opposites (ala yin yang). We can
acknowledge our differences and work together on strengths and
weaknesses if we wish, but otherwise make no judgements.
As for what to do about someone trying to persuade me to their beliefs or impose them, I might consider what they're saying, just to leave all my options flexible, but if it's not me, I'd just say No. The most adamant may want to tell me about their hell and damnation, but... if that is not part of MY belief system then what difference does it make to me? Yet, I respect their individual right to those beliefs. If our connection is made through unconditional love, then we can accept whatever comes with it. That doesn't mean we have to agree on every issue or adopt it for ourselves or make all others buy it. We can coexist in peace despite our differences. 07.17.2001 |
