Finding Self

There is much debate on vocabulary in this, but in the following dissertation I refer to Self as the soul/spirit/self which is the spark of each 'person', their lifeforce, who they are with or without a physical presence, each an individual entity that is also integral to all entities, whom together comprise All That Is.

I believe it's that Self which we seek, beneath the 'personality' layers of this life. Through our experiences, training and interactions, we take on aspects and cover or ignore others. We do it without much discretion while we're young and impressionable, while we're vulnerable because we're learning to work with these bodies and our function in the physical world.

At some point, we may begin to look at where we are, who we are, what may exist beyond our mortal self. Until that moment, we're a sum of what we've accumulated and not all of it fits our true Self. Sometimes this is made evident by some personal catastrophy but it can also be a gradual urge. We begin to ask questions for which we have no answers or the answers we've gotten from others just don't ring true for us. It is this ill-fitting feeling that both prompts the investigation and aids it. After that there's a lot of sorting to do: what to keep, what to modify, what to throw away.

To awaken is to consciously realize that there is more to a person than the thread of circumstantial life. To be enlightened is to recognize the presence of Self and further to recognize that this individual Self is part of something greater. To embrace the truth is to accept that we are all connected to each other in infinity and that what one does will affect all.

We come here to experience life in a way which is only possible in the physical plane. We are learning, doing, being. We add what we learn and experience to the pool of knowledge, understanding and experience, even when we're not consciously aware of it. Even our most instinctive reactions provide valuable information.

I believe that we may spend many lifetimes just experiencing without an awakening or conscious enlightenment. However, right now, a great number of persons living are shedding the 'lies', lifting the veil, and becoming aware of Self and all that is. Under this awareness, we are more able to act rather than react. We are more able to create from unfettered Self and with the intent of conscious benefit to all in the pool of consciousness, physically manifested or not.

I don't like the characterization of human experience as a pack of lies. What we experience here is precious, every single time we incarnate. I feel that to judge people on whether they are 'awake' or not is in error. Each still brings their unique perspectives into the collective consciousness. They will awaken when it is appropriate for them to do so. It's just that a person awakened to Self, with an accumulation of experiences and wisdom of discretion, we may be more creative and considerate of what gets tossed into the pool.
