I believe we have plenty of power. We have power beyond governments and military action and terrorizing extremists. If you want to assist, find something to do within your community that lifts up the children or other people near you. Give blood. Donate to food drives. Smile at everyone you see and appreciate any smiles you get back in return. Commit random acts of kindness. Meditate and focus your compassion and hopes. Simple things or big things, they add up, for you and others.
The positive energy of what you broadcast will benefit our collective consciousness and will likely help you feel better as well. If you believe as I do that we're all really together, then raising the enjoyment of life for one, raises it for all, by that much. We can't force it on anyone, but we can sure make more of it available to draw from. Withdrawing because of fear, sitting in sorrow, nurturing anger and dissention... these energies end up in the mix too. Surely we'd be better served to avoid those, personally and collectively. Early last week, I was chatting with a group of friends and we were rather frustrated about the upcoming unknown response to the Sept 11th attacks. We were brainstorming about what other options might help. We got into ideas for loading up the Afghani people with what they really need, like food and medicine. How many clusters of people were sitting around with that idea? Did they march on Washington DC to get the US government to execute that? No. So perhaps it was a thought that gained momentum and circulated through the energies that connect us, thereby ending up on the US agenda. Think about that for a minute. There's power in the people alright. It's our choice how we spend it. 10.08.2001 |
