If we each wait for all others to know joy before we can ourselves be joyful then we will all just be miserable together. We are each duty-bound, by our own individual spirits, to be who we are, to find our own joy and thereby raise the pool of joy by that much.
We can perhaps teach by example, we can offer to share our abundance, but we serve no one by trying to force the unwilling to pick up their beds and walk. Each has his or her own path. We cannot drag them onto ours. We can offer a helping hand, a compassionate heart, a patient ear, but we do not honor ourselves or anyone else by turning away from our own joy. That sacrifice pays for nothing. We serve ourselves and all others best by embracing our own joy and letting that energy radiate outward. Those who are ready and/or willing, will see our light and be drawn to find theirs too. 12.13.2001 |
