In some circles these would be called blogs, perhaps of a spiritual (not religious) flavor.

Everything is connected. Everything. Even things we don't think of as 'things'... are connected. That means you and me and our ideas, even if they're vastly different, and all our molecules with all the molecules floating around in infinite space, and even the 'stuff' we think of as the vacuum of space or the stuff in between all the other stuff we think we know about. It's all connected. We are all connected. The graphic to the right is my little doodle expressing this connectedness, at least between people. Whether or not it's really that orderly or uniform, we are each in touch with others, even people we don't know. We come in contact with countless persons daily on many levels. We are directly and indirectly influencing other people and they are influencing us. An unknown driver pulling a bonehead stunt ahead of you in traffic can impact your day, literally or emotionally. Similarly, your smile, shared with an unknown person whom you pass on the street, may be the very thing that person really needed at that moment. In the biblical vernacular, there is always the potential for "entertaining angels unawares" but truthfully, do we need this incentive? Are we only interested in doing the right thing for the right people? If so, then aren't we selling ourselves short and not recognizing that this is self-serving and not true compassion at all? If I want to be full of compassion, then I need to knock the judgement out of it altogether. The point is to BE compassionate, caring, helpful, forgiving, kind, etc. Regardless of who may benefit or whether I am effective, I am a better ME. My point of control is being who I want to be. The rest is not really under my control... and yet... I am connected to it, so I may add my own essence to that pool... and maybe cause a beneficial ripple... which could someday come back to me. If enough of us did that, imagine what a marvelous world this would be.
