| I'm a quicksilver being. I'm not aimless or nebulous or vaporous... just mercurial, adaptable and versatile. I have many and varied aspects. Some go along with the flow, others may seem renegade. I'm definitely prone to rapid and unpredictable changes of mood and thought. I've been accused of cleverness and wit. I am a bundle of multiplicity and paradox but fluid in my ability to shift as needed from one 'channel' to another to suit one situation or another. However, I am not duplicitous. I am not shallow, fickle, nor do I care to participate in deception. A chameleon may change his colors to fit his environment, but he is still the same chameleon. My personal integrity and my respect for other people are not mutable nor negotiable assets. |

...Scientifically, quicksilver is elemental Mercury (Hg - Hydrargyrum). Its unique bonding properties enable it to draw gold and other metals from ore. Quicksilver is also used in electric switches, temperature gauges, and other instrumentation. It has been employed as a liquid mirror for large scale telescopes. In some forms, Mercury is also a deadly poison.
...Alchemically, quicksilver seems to transcend normal physicality, being a metal but liquid at ordinary temperatures. When alloyed with another metal, it can be solid. At other times it takes on gaseous form. Some processes can cause a simultaneous separation into vapor and crystals... air and solid matter... air and earth... As Above, So Below. Quicksilver/Mercury is associated with the Greek Hermes, messenger of the gods, as well as the planet Mercury, named for the same entity in Roman Mythology. ...Metaphorically, quicksilver represents flexibility with speed, particularly in the realm of intellect, but not strictly in an academic sense. A quicksilver mind is fast, yes, but can often see many ways to apply knowledge gleaned. It means being able to recognize patterns and mirror them or function within them. It is a gift for being able to reflect characteristics and parameters, without taking them on, simply understanding and working with them. It's often mediation as well, being a liaison with the ability to communicate between dissimilar groups or to find the connecting points in what is seemingly unconnected. As noted, quicksilver is a conductor, a gauge, and a reflective element. It is often transformative too. With the best of intentions, it can mean bonding with others to help draw out their own precious metals from the ore. In general, it bodes the psychological strength of metal, yet remains fluid, flexible. It is quick thought and quick wit to help smooth over gaps or join portions together. ...Metaphysically, I am now discovering that my quicksilverness allows me to be a bridge or conduit through which the physical world and the spirit realm may connect. These two planes have always influenced each other, but often there is a need to make purposeful channels with intent, such as helping lost spirits release from our Mother Earth so she may heal. |

There is a theme here but I may be the only one to see it because the theme is where my mind, heart and soul travel... at least the parts I'm willing to share publicly. I am central to the theme but I feel that much of what I post here may be useful or entertaining to others. I hope you enjoy your visit. Ordinarily there might be a signature here, but I provide none. In my variety, I have many names, nicknames, and characters for whom I write. Some of these are expressed or explained in more detail elsewhere. Yet, I had to name the site, and so I used what left me the greatest flexibility. But, 'quicksilver' is not really one of my names... it's what I am. |
