I believe.

Some people try to discount spirituality or faith. Many who profess belief in a higher power, may still refuse to accept that we were truly created as individuals by that power. They may try to bind us into a group mold. They will believe in miracles, but refute other supernatural events that do not fit their special definitions. They want to deny the existence of real magic, as if miracles are not exactly that, to some degree. Some people even argue that we have no soul. They make claims that these experiences are due to nothing more than brain activity.

Well, it is brain activity! What else do we have to reason with? Where does our intelligence and independent will power reside? Where do we process information we receive or prepare information to be dispensed? Where do we initiate action and respond to actions outside ourselves? Where do we accumulate affinities and aversions? Of course it's brain activity.

I believe I have a soul. In fact, I am a soul. I believe that my brain is the physical channel through which I maintain contact with this physical realm. I believe I am an independent spirit, a spark of energy and consciousness within the universe.

In the next essay, "Oneness," I have stated what I believe as completely as I can at this time. The rest is more detail, including my own theories of how spiritual and cosmic and magical things work. I'm sharing parts of my spirit diary or journal entries to recount my experiences as they happened and as I tried to understand them. I've developed analogies and broadened my own personal concepts and understanding as they might relate to all of us who walk our own paths. I wanted to stick to terms and explanations that can be more easily understood than the usual writings of this nature. I've tried to avoid restrictive labels and keywords that only apply to special groups. Thus I hope to have covered the broadest range of topics in the most universal, plain-English sense.

My main reason for sharing is to help others come to trust their own experiences. I needed reassurance that I was not the only one having these sorts of thoughts and events. I had help from other individuals and managed to fill in information from a wide variety of sources, but always I had to tune out the dogma, the jargon, the institutionalized way in which many groups still try to make free spirits adhere to some set of external rules. I needed to develop my own set of flexible guidelines and I expect no one else to fit into them but perhaps what I relay will help other seekers find their own brand of Truth.

What I have seen so far is barely a sketch of what is truly possible. I now know this to my core. I was skeptical and I still am to some extent, but I'm learning to put that aside. If we are to expand our minds, then logically we must OPEN them.

I've heard that
... on average, we only use a small percentage of our brain power.
... some people have psychic abilities for communication, etc.
... some people see colorful borders around other people, aka auras.
... people claim to have traveled outside their bodies.
... dreams and waking visions may have messages for us.
... someone thousands of miles from another can feel or effect that other person, even without knowing them.
... our individual behavior patterns may be written in the sky and read by those who know how.
... there's a way to keep score on the balance of our actions, aka karma.
... spirits sometimes hang around after their bodies are gone.
... souls may travel in groups together, lifetime after lifetime.
and so forth and so on.

Now, I believe it all. I believe that anything is possible. It only takes one personal experience to make you curious. Perhaps it takes a couple of events to make you believe there must be such possibilities. You may still be skeptical when you hear of something just as unusual from another person, but after a while you have to admit that something is happening.

Wonderful things have certainly been happening to me. I hope you find my Soul Journal useful as you proceed on your own path.
