Cycles
Oh yes, you know that whole cycle of meeting survival needs then progression above it to have mind space for awakening and stepping onto the soul path? Many of us believe that we get to do it over and over and over again until we get it right, or more accurately, until we're done. By what definition? I can only guess as yet. Indeed, I speak of reincarnation, renewal, regeneration. Pick a word. A spark from the cosmos, a divine touch, started our existence. For the origin of mankind, choose your favorite details and time scale; either one day out of six or sixty-five million years of evolution. It comes down to the same result. We're here. Anyway, humans procreated and figured out a few things and developed and emerged from the lower links of the food chain and found that opposable thumbs are quite useful. We learned new tricks, like how to kill for food and how to kill each other. We continued the procreation thing, mostly because it feels good. We went all through that droning dissertation I just gave you about consumption and progress. We grew and built and tore down and built anew until we got to... Today. But wait! There are so many questions, like how is it that the population grows and yet with reincarnation wouldn't there be a finite number of souls recycling? Excellent question but based on a flawed premise. For a moment, step outside this Earth/human perspective. Each of us is a divine spark. Each of us may occupy a body, but our spirits are actually energy citizens of the Universe, regardless of the carton we're packed in or its expiration date. As for population growth and amassing of more souls, well, let's look at that. Some would try to cite a theory similar to Conservation of Matter and Energy in the face of this expansion. That's a valid point. It's a balance thing, but from our currently limited perspective, can we judge the overall Balance? The concept of Conservation might be that more people would mean more matter would mean conversion of energy into a lot of sleepwalkers and a small (but growing) percentage of souls tapping into the energy stream of the Universe for power and knowledge. I dunno. What do you think? Maybe we get a baby boom everytime a fiery star winks out. Maybe the Universe doesn't miss sixty million megatons of matter or an equal part of energy when the Universe is... can we say... Infinite? I knew we could. I won't even get into the possibility of alien colonies, although it seems terribly arrogant for us to think that the Earth is the only dot in the vastness of the universe where souls might want to live. Still, it's possible. It's possible that this little rock is the only soul-lab in the whole research project. I'll expect some answers about that some day. While we're gaining perspective on the cycles, we must look at another confusing element, Time. It is not a single thread nor even linear at all. There actually is no such thing as Time by any measure or description we'd understand right now, here. Time, as we think of it, is a concept we need here on this plane, developed in this lab, nothing more. The spirit or soul may move about in space and time at will, but our bodies may be stuck with the laws of physics as discovered to date. Yes, I am implying that it may be possible to travel faster than the speed of light and to zip around to different time frames and to skip from one galaxy to the next, even physically. I also am saying that until we figure it out, we cannot do it. It may as well not be possible. In fact, it appears that it is not currently possible, but that may not be the case forever. If you find that a little hard to swallow then ponder this: Could anyone tell you how many minutes passed, before there was a device or method for counting them? Then did minutes exist before then? Maybe, but before we knew about them and knew how to apply them, they may as well not have existed. Same deal with time travel and anything else we haven't quite worked out yet. In the Cosmos and on other planes of existence besides this one, there may be other measurements used to mark what we think of as time and space, but at some level it becomes more a matter of the purpose of our tasks than how long it takes to accomplish them or how far one must travel to do so. There could be much debate over this but I think that anyone who truly understands how it all works, has likely gotten bored with it and returned to the Universe already. The fact is that we, here, cannot really discuss or conduct ourselves in the true context of the whole universe and its intricate workings, not while tied to this limited physical plane. We are here, so to interact, we'll have to settle for what is available to us here. We share space and time and consciousness here. Discussion is an activity we do here. We'd have to figure out how to interact and exchange information otherwise, if we wanted to connect 'out there.' All we can discuss is what we think we know, in the context of where we are and where we think we've been. Further restricting this discourse is what you and I can share through mutually understood languages, vocabularies, symbols and concepts. Einstein's Theory of Relativity is a cakewalk compared to how 'relative' everything is in the Universe. What we need is not necessarily THE TRUTH and all the facts of everything ever. What we each need is a working theory. For that, I don't see why every soul would have to start from scratch. In fact, I don't think we do. I think we learn from each other and ourselves to adopt theories that work for us, until they don't work anymore, and then we adopt or develop new ones. Right now, I believe that the theory which makes the most sense, for continued learning and growth of each spirit in this physical human realm, is reincarnation. We already believe that the universe is too complex for us to learn in one lesson. Put another way, the majority of us believe that we cannot become 'perfect' in this lifetime, if ever. We can only try. Now some would fall back upon the grace of their chosen deity or the universe in general to be given a reward at the end of one lifetime and that's the end of that. This seems simplistic to me and rather anti-climactic. Why bother to make any progress if you can have a talk with the dean at the end of the semester and get good grades anyway? Or worse, why do anything if there is nothing at the end of this short run? If this is IT, then perhaps we are nothing more than rats in a maze. I don't believe that. I certainly don't feel it in my soul. If you're not searching for more than just survival until death, then why are you reading any of this? So, I believe we are pushed from within our own souls to learn and grow and enjoy and experience, until we reach our full potential. One lifetime would seem much too short to do this, with all the time we spend just learning to function in these bodies and within the world at large, ie, survival. I believe we must keep scheduling more classes. I also believe that we get to carry forward pertinent knowledge from previous classes. I think that our bodies and time frames and life/soul experiences are how we keep notes. I think we cannot carry all of these notes around with us all the time, but when we need notes from previous classes, we can access them. I also believe that we can help each other by sharing notes. That's what I'm trying to do here. I'm opening up my notebook, the parts I have with me, to see if any of my notes may help you with your own curriculum. Only you can decide whether this information is useful to you. (Cycles) |
