The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream by Paulo Coelho While the language and surface story of this book is simple enough for young readers to understand, some of the spiritual and psychological concepts revealed are profound. I dare say this story would be entertaining for the lightest reader, but also quite enlightening for seekers. Even for those who feel they've come a long way on their path, there are some wonderful affirmations and reminders here. Fable it may be, but not as much fiction as many may think. Also available on audio, read by Jeremy Irons! All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum Simple truths about being human, told in an endearing and humorous way. Get the audio book if possible. It's delightful to hear the author read it himself. He's not a dynamic reader, per se, but his enthusiasm and sheer appreciation of life comes through his words and his voice. Chiron and the Healing Journey by Melanie Reinhart Making use of this strong aspect of Astrology to uncover important information about yourself. The background information is almost too detailed, however, this is a good source for interpreting Chiron's influence from its location in your natal chart. I found that the chapters which applied to my chart were very accurate. The revelations were instrumental in helping me move past some major stumbling blocks. Of course, you have to know where Chiron is in your birth chart for this to be useful. Embraced by the Light by Betty J. Eadie Excellent descriptions of spirit matters by a woman who had a near-death experience. Although her interpretations are fairly heavy with religious overtones, the concepts of soul circles and general ideas on what we're up are good reading. Uplifting and useful information. Making Peace with Your Past by Harold Bloomfield, MD Psychology-based spiritual self-help for discovering past issues and dealing with them. I recommend the audio book because it contains meditation or visualization exercises which you can practice as the reader coaches. These are past issues in this life, not past lives. If you don't think you have any issues with your past in this life... think again. This book is very useful for digging up even the small stumbling blocks and helping you release them. The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav Very close interpretation of what I have come to know. I read this after I'd established most of my own theories and I was so thrilled to find such synchronicity in this book. It can be a little repetitive, but like my own telling, sometimes it's necessary to work the same concept from a few different angles so it makes sense to more people. (By the way, this one practically jumped off the carousel at me while I was just looking for some romantic fluff in audiobooks to keep me company on a long drive. I was much happier with this selection!) The Seth Material by Jane Roberts (Amazon only has the hardback. Save money. Find the paperback somewhere or see if there are used copies available.) It's rather thick with theory but this is an accounting of direct contact with knowledge outside this physical plane and can be quite enlightening. Most of the 'instructional' content is terribly vague, but it certainly gets the thought processes churning and that in itself is a gift.
