Right Foot, Left Foot

Somewhere deep in our DNA is the need to believe in something. We usually start with something we are comfortable with or at the very least, something we are taught, is familiar. A simple truth I learned was that if something feels right and comfortable, like a pair of fuzzy slippers or a favorite coat, then it's a truth that belongs to you. It is something you don't have to question because it feels like coming home. Have Faith. Stumbling around doesn't mean you're clumsy, it just means you're adventurous.

Where did I begin? Where will I end? Sometimes I feel like an Oreo cookie in the making, from the center radiating out. Most of my ramblings here are not freshly made but from the perspective of looking back over my shoulder at the path(s) I have already trod. Therefore, most of them are laced with colors of the years already lived.

It doesn't matter which foot you start with, what matters is that you keep putting one foot in front of the other. Sometimes the road beneath your feet is solid and reassuring. Other times, it is merely air and you have to make a decision. Do I take a step and fly or do I take the chance I will fall and crash? What happens if I fly? What happens if I crash? That answer, only you will have. Very few things in this world are a certainty. If we always travel with a safety net, how will we grow beyond those limitations?

You mother gives birth to you, you learn to sit up, to crawl, to walk, to talk. You learn to educate your mind. Your soul is no different. As you trusted yourself to take that first step in walking as a toddler, so must you trust yourself to take that first step into your individual spiritual enlightenment. Question everything. The Truth can stand up under the scrutiny. That's the easy part. The hardest part is being brutally honest with yourself.

Some of the things I believe may not fit into your thinking or your belief system. I am not asking you to make it so. I am asking that you open your mind, ask yourself a question or two and maybe file the information away.

All roads lead to Rome. All Gods and Goddesses are One. I don't claim to have all the answers or that the answers I do have are right for anyone but me. Sometimes, my answers change as I learn more or see something in a different light. So long as the quest for enlightenment is pure, the Universe is vast. It can stand up under your Truth or mine. The journey begins with a right foot and a left foot....
