Jera Skyspear elvish script ('yera')     or rune (jera)   Jera (pronounced 'yeh-rah') is a Sithryn elf, based on Bill West's concept as written in the Blackthorn Chronicles. Given Name: Jera House/Clan Name: Hyandakalan (Blade of Light) Seat of the Clan: Raumo Korda (Storm Temple) So, she is Jera of the Clan of the Blade of Light from the Mountain of the Storm Temple. However, she is usually called by Jera Skyspear with 'skyspear' being an indirect Common Speech translation of her clan's name "Blade of Light" and referring to lightning. (There's a story in how she came by that common name and someday I will write it. hehe) Within her clan, she was called Jera, of course, but also Jeranda (yeh-rahn-dah) by some, especially her father. She was sometimes called "yera-yànda" in fun or by small children... and by her younger brother, when he was in a teasing mood. ~ Ashe ~ Of particular interest to Jera Skyspear is another Sithryn named Ashevathallion, often called Ashe. Here's a description gleaned from a tale in the Blackthorn Chronicles, In The Blood: "Ashevathallion. Yarrow's twin. ...a tall figure, clad in the green and blue colors of the Silver Rose, cloak held by a large silver brooch in the likeness of the flower the House was named after. The face, once perfection, now marked by a scar; the voice, once melodious, now rough. Ashe still walked with all the inherent grace and presence of the Sithryn." And from Shane's first encounter with Ashe: "Not Yarrow, Shanevethallion. But just as much kin as he." Now he came into full view, throwing back his hood so the boy had a clear view of his face. It could have been Yarrow. The face was a copy of the Sithryn who had once tried to steal Shane. But an old scar running from his right ear to just below the chin marred the elf's looks. Besides, it didn't FEEL like Yarrow! Another laugh came across the fire. "So like your father. And yet so different! Boy, I am your Uncle Ashevathallion. Yarrow is my twin, but unlike him, I mean neither you nor your father harm." Given Name: Ashe, Ashevannon, Ashevathallion House/Clan Name: House of the Silver Rose (va thallion) Seat of the Clan: Forest of Green Silences The wonderful tales of the Blackthorn Chronicles and the characters therein, as well as others, including Ashevathallion... are the creations of another writer who is excellent at both storytelling and roleplaying... Bill West.
