His life has been wrought with trials from the beginning, with his separation from his biological family when he was very young, to his life with Lord Wolf and Wenndolyne.
He was just a boy when his home was seized by a band of evil men. He could describe only the sounds and smells of the day, as he was far too young to recall much else. The yelling of his father's voice and the silence that fell soon after. The crying of his sister, four years old when that all happened. The desperate pleas of his mother as she muttered one word to him frantically as she slipped him out a small panel opening in the back of their home and urged him on into the wood.
"Run!" is what she had said... and run is what Simon did. He ran from his home, already in flames, leaving his family behind. He ran from his village, not knowing whom to trust and leaving his life behind. He ran through the wood, not stopping until exhaustion took over and sleep was not to be escaped. He ran for days and days without looking over his shoulder for he knew what his mother had told him and that would be his duty.
He finally came upon Camelot after having run far too many days to count. At six years old, being alone attracted much attention to him, so finding food was not at all difficult though he knew that he had to trust sparingly for his own survival. He finally befriended Admiral Cartwright, who eventually became his adopted father. The Admiral taught him the ways of the ocean and the two lived together on a great boat in the nearby harbor.
His life with the Admiral was good. Better than he'd ever known, in fact, but frequent dreams of his family and nightmares about the last day made him restless. As time passed, he met Wenndolyne and began to move closer to her. She would find her way of calming his nights, humming to him and sitting there with him until he was securely slumbering.
After many adventures, this young lad found a home with Wenndolyne and Lord Wolf, where he lives today. Life is filled with much happiness and he wants for naught, but in the back of his mind always lingers the thoughts of that day so long ago.
